The Al-Andalusia Islamic University of Spain<\/strong>next to the Muslim community of the Macarena neighborhood<\/strong>held on Monday 26th, at 12:00 noon, a act of prayer and tribute<\/strong> next to the Andalusian necropolis recently found in this enclave of the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Seville City Hall<\/strong> and of the Macarena District<\/strong>among them Carmen Mar\u00eda Tena Aguilar<\/strong>District Delegate, Manuel Loreto<\/strong>The District Director, as well as members of the District team, in a gesture of institutional support in the face of a discovery of notable historical relevance.<\/p>\n

A gesture of respect and historical memory<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The purpose of the event was to to pay a spiritual and human tribute<\/strong> to the people buried there, whose remains will be removed as part of the planned archaeological and urban planning work. For the University and the organizing community, this gesture responds to a commitment with the dignity of human remains<\/strong>the historical memory<\/strong> and respect for those who were part of the city's Andalusian past.<\/p>\n

The call for applications was symbolic and commemorative<\/strong>The importance of approaching such findings with sensitivity, historical awareness and interreligious respect was emphasized.<\/p>\n

Development of the event<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The ceremony was conducted by Rector of the Islamic University of Spain Al-Andalusia, Sh. Mohammad Idrissi<\/strong>who led the recitation of the S\u016brah al-F\u0101ti\u1e25ah<\/strong> and the S\u016brah al-Mulk<\/strong>. Subsequently, the President of the Al-Hidaya Mosque Community, Imam Hassan Idrissi<\/strong>made a du\u02bf\u0101\u02be<\/strong> by the people buried in the necropolis.<\/p>\n

In his concluding remarks, the Rector highlighted the historical relevance of the finding<\/strong>The authors of the study, who pointed out that, since the burial sites date back to the Almohad period, it is possible that some of the people buried there may have participated in the construction of emblematic elements of Seville, such as the Giralda<\/strong>the Torre del Oro<\/strong> or the Macarena wall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Heritage, education and value for the neighborhood<\/strong><\/h4>\n

During the event, it was emphasized that this discovery constitutes an important opportunity to enhance the historical heritage of the neighborhood<\/strong>as well as to promote knowledge of the Andalusian legacy<\/strong> as part of the shared history of Seville and Andalusia.<\/p>\n

The Macarena District Delegate, Carmen Mar\u00eda Tena Aguilar<\/strong>The Mayor closed the event by thanking for the invitation and reiterating the willingness of the City Council and the District to collaborate in initiatives that contribute to the common good of the neighborhood and its neighbors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
