On August 27, 2025<\/strong>In the framework of his institutional visit to Indonesia, the Rector of the Al-Andalusia Islamic University of Spain, Sh. Mohammad Idrissi<\/strong>was received by the directors of Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS)<\/strong>the national institution responsible for the collection and distribution of the Zakah<\/strong> in the country.<\/p>\n The meeting provided an opportunity to present the academic and community work of Al-Andalusia and, at the same time, to learn about BAZNAS's extensive experience in the large-scale Zakah management<\/strong>. The conversation addressed key issues such as governance models, transparency, social impact and mechanisms to ensure that Zakah effectively reaches those who need it most.<\/p>\n BAZNAS managers shared the challenges and lessons learned from managing one of the pillars of Islam in a country with one of the world's highest rates of unemployment. largest Muslim communities in the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n During the dialogue, the value of Zakah was emphasized not only as a religious obligation, but also as a a tool for social justice, dignity and community cohesion<\/strong>. The exchange provided an opportunity to reflect on the role that educational and religious institutions can play in raising awareness, understanding and proper management of this pillar, especially in socially and legally diverse contexts.<\/p>\n The BAZNAS experience was evaluated as a referent<\/strong> from which to draw lessons applicable to other environments where the institutionalization of Zakah is still under development.<\/p>\n Beyond the technical aspects, the meeting was marked by an atmosphere of respect, listening and mutual learning<\/strong>.
