Accreditation<\/h2><\/div>

The Islamic University of Spain Al-Andalusia, its Faculties, and the Higher Institute of Islamic Sciences of Spain Al-Andalusia belong to the CCI Al-Andalusia of Seville, registered in the Register of Religious Entities in accordance with Royal Decree 594\/2015, which allows the Islamic Communities belonging to the Islamic Commission of Spain (CIE) to establish and run theological training centers and universities of Islamic character. This legal framework is based on both the Organic Law 7\/1980, of July 5, 1980, on Religious Freedom and the 1992 Cooperation Agreements between the Spanish State and the CIE, guarantees the right of these institutions to train their ministers of worship and teachers of Islamic Religion, and to teach at university level.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Agreement with the International Islamic University of Malaysia<\/b><\/h2><\/div>

In its commitment to academic excellence and international projection, Al-Andalusia signed a collaboration agreement with the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM). This agreement facilitates the accreditation and recognition of training programs, as well as participation in joint research projects. <\/span><\/p>\n

In this way, the University and the Institute reinforce their mission of providing higher education based on academic rigor, Islamic tradition and universal values, while ensuring the validity of their degrees in the international arena.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Recognition of qualifications<\/b><\/h2><\/div>

The degrees conferred by the Islamic University of Spain Al-Andalusia, its Faculty of Theology and Islamic Sciences and Islamic Sciences, and the Higher Institute, belonging to CCI Al-Andalusia of Seville, member of the Islamic Commission of Spain (CIE) and, therefore, beneficiary of the cooperation agreements between the Spanish State and the CIE established in Law 26\/1992, is framed within the theological and religious teachings recognized by the Spanish legal system. Thus, the additional provision that grants it religious validity and recognition before the authorities applies.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Religious scope and civil validity<\/b><\/h2><\/div>

In accordance with Organic Law 2\/2023, of March 22, the University abides by the regulations in force for the civil recognition of its degrees of a theological nature and for the training of ministers of worship and teachers of Islamic religion. However, it distinguishes between:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Programs of a strictly religious nature or of its own: taught under the coverage of Religious Freedom and the cooperation agreements between the State and the CIE (Law 26\/1992), with validity and recognition in the confessional sphere.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Programs with civil validity or aspiring to civil recognition: subject to the verification, supervision and quality control processes required by Spanish university legislation and agreements with international universities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    With regard to academic classification, Royal Decree 1393\/2007, of October 29 (BOE no. 260, of October 30), assigns religious and theological studies to the branch of Arts and Humanities. Likewise, in the UNESCO Classification Table of Fields and Sectors of Education (ISCED 1997), this degree appears in the Field of Knowledge of Arts and Humanities (Humanities sector) number 22, under the denomination of \"Religion and Theology\".<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
