Al-Andalusia Islamic University of Spain is seeking to hire professors in the fields of Islamic Studies to teach courses as part of their academic programs in Islamic higher education.
The successful candidate will contribute to the training of students, future teachers, imams, murshidat, educators, and community leaders within the Muslim community in Spain and throughout the Spanish-speaking world, thereby strengthening a serious, structured Islamic education that remains faithful to the tradition of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah.
Areas of instruction
Depending on the profile, you will be able to teach: Aqidah · Fiqh · Usul al-Fiqh · Tafsir · Ulum al-Qur'an · Hadith · Ulum al-Hadith · Tazkiyah and Islamic spirituality · Sirah and Shamail · Islamic history · Arabic Language Applied to Islamic Sciences · Da’wah and Irshad · Islamic Ethics and Character Building · Islamic Studies Applied to the Contemporary Context.
Profile required
We are seeking instructors with a strong background in Islamic Studies, a solid understanding of classical sources, teaching skills, and a commitment to the responsible transmission of Islamic knowledge.
Main functions
- Teach in-person, online, or hybrid classes, depending on the assigned program.
- Prepare the lesson plan: objectives, content, methodology, assessment, and materials.
- Develop academic materials, lecture notes, presentations, readings, and activities.
- Assess student progress through assignments, exams, class participation, or other established methods.
- Grade assignments and exams using clear, fair, and consistent criteria.
- Provide academic support to students throughout their learning process.
- Coordinate with the Academic Administration, the Dean’s Office, and the Academic Coordination Office.
- Comply with the University’s academic calendar, schedules, and internal procedures.
- Attend academic meetings as required.
- Help improve programs, courses, and materials.
- Maintain a respectful attitude, a sense of responsibility, academic integrity, and a commitment to the University’s mission.
- To help connect classical Islamic knowledge with the real-world needs of today's students and community.
Requirements
- A degree in Islamic Studies, Islamic Sciences, Islamic Theology, or a related field.
- A solid understanding of the subject matter to be taught.
- Ability to work with classical Islamic texts.
- Good reading and comprehension skills in Arabic, particularly when it comes to texts related to the subject matter.
- Teaching experience or a proven ability to teach.
- Good oral and written communication skills in Spanish.
- Ability to develop materials, assessments, and instructional content.
- Commitment to the University’s mission, values, and academic focus.
- Respect for academic methodology, the diversity of recognized schools of thought, and the framework of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah.
- Availability to teach classes during the assigned times.
- Basic use of digital tools for online teaching, video conferencing, and virtual campuses.

- A college degree in Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, the humanities, education, philosophy, history, or related fields.
- Previous experience teaching Islamic Studies to adult students.

- Ability to teach in Spanish and Arabic.
- Knowledge of English.
- Experience in curriculum design, developing manuals, or preparing academic materials.
- Understanding the context of Muslims in Spain and Europe.
- The ability to connect Islamic studies with contemporary reality.
- Experience in training teachers, imams, murshidat, or community leaders.
- Participation in educational, academic, community, or da’wah projects.
