Sheikh AbdulHakim Vázquez, dean and professor at Al-Andalusia University and Higher Institute, led this session dedicated to the education of the soul and inner transformation.
The days September 19 and 20, the presence of the Al-Andalusia University and Higher Education Institute reached as far as Palma de Mallorca led by the Sheikh AbdulHakim Vázquez, a professor and dean at our institution, who led the workshop «From Knowledge to Being: The Education of the Soul According to Al-Ghazali».
Organized by La Iniciativa Association, the gathering offered the participating sisters a space for formation and reflection on a fundamental question in spiritual education: how to ensure that the knowledge we acquire goes beyond the mere accumulation of information and brings about a real transformation in the person.
From Knowledge to Transformation
The workshop used as a reference Ayyuha al-Walad (Letter to the Disciple), one of the works by Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali, which addresses fundamental questions related to knowledge, intention, the soul, and the path to inner transformation.
Over the course of the two days, participants were invited to pause and look beyond the concept of knowledge understood solely as what is learned or studied. The event highlighted the importance of asking ourselves what we do with what we know and how that knowledge can be reflected in our decisions, our actions, and our relationship with ourselves.
From this perspective, the training was conceived as a space for reflect on one's personal relationship with knowledge, examine one's own intentions, and connect the lessons studied with one's individual experience.
An experience highly valued by the participants
The workshop took place over two days, on September 19 and 20, and it was very well received by the sisters who participated.
At the end of the event, the participants expressed their satisfaction with the experience and the benefits they gained from the sessions, alhamdulillah. The workshop’s positive reception reflects the interest in educational opportunities that go beyond the mere acquisition of knowledge and also encourage personal reflection and the practical application of what is learned.
